Mountain biking

Really starting to get antsy to get out and go mountain biking. Been spending time getting my bike ready. I ride a Trek 8000. Hoping I can get a new bike before too long. I'm ready to go for a full suspension. But not quite to the point that I can do that yet. Besides I'd like to get my oldest son Jayge riding. He's gone with us a few times. But his Trek 820 is a bit heavy, and dosn't stay in tune long enough to really enjoy riding. He's had fun. but a better bike would do him wonders. Besides his bike is getting to small for him. My Trek would work perfectly for him. So hopefully this year I will be able to get me a full suspension so that he can start joining us. My wife has also expressed interest in riding with us. And she could also ride my 8000. So far this year I have replaced my chain, hand grips, and tires. With a complete tune up it will be totally ready to go. I'm really excited to get out this year. I'm trying to get into good riding shape over this winter. so I don't trail everyone else quite so badly. I'd like to get to the point that I'm not a straggler, but can ride with the group. Hopefully I can get out 2-3 times per week for some riding. Maybe if I can can swing a state park pass, I can ride antelope island regularly. That should help me get into pretty good riding shape. As there are some fairly tough rides out there. Anyway looking forward to a good riding year. SMILE!

Weekend

So this weekend we went out to visit Shane and Heather. It was a nice weekend. Played games, and stuff. We slept over on friday night, and played games on saturday too. By the time we left, I think everyone was exhausted, Both at their house and ours. Everyone was starting to get really out of control. Rachel got strep and an ear infection and has been home the last couple of days. Hopefully she is starting to feel better, and will be back to normal soon. And if all goes well, no one else will get sick. Yesterday at work I had another head pressman working with me. It's kind of awkward working with another pressman. Especially since my jogger had a meeting, so I had his rolltender too. Talk about feeling out of place on my own shift. It was kinda strange.. Hope we get some snow soon. I'd like to get rid of this inversion. So there is some decent air out there. Anyway. Time to go to work. Hove a great one everybody.

work and play

Just finished my work week. There is something nice about having your week over after just 3 days of work. Granted the days are long, and on the days I work there isn't time to do much besides work and sleep. But having 4 days off every week is really nice. If it wasn't shift work so I had to change every 6 weeks it really wouldn't be too bad. The thing that sucks is when you have to take a week of vacation just to have a couple days off. For example this year my anniversary is on a Saturday, and I am going to have to take the day off because I work. Then 2 weeks later when it is time to go to Moab again. There is 2 days because not only do I have to take Friday off to go down there but I have to take Saturday off, because it is one of my work days too.. There is 40 hours of vacation just for a couple days off. Most people would only loose 8 hours or so for the Friday. That is where it sucks. Big time. So it sure would be nice if we could get some snow now. so it would clean out all this crappy air we have right now. This stupid inversion sucks. At least the weather men predicted this one acurately.

Broken Bones

So After sleeping in until 11 today, and then getting in the shower. I get a phone call telling me I needed to get my daughter at school. She had fallen and couldn't get up......Oh, well almost. So Amanda fell off the bars playing gymnist on the bars at her school. Of course she lands on her right arm and we get to take a trip in to the doc. to see if it is broken. It is. the X-ray tech looks at it, and even before he is done taking pictures he could tell me it was broken, and what kind of break it was. Pretty impressive. Obviously seen that before. After we get it casted, and take her home she eats lunch and wants to go back to school. The lady in the office was totally shocked. She said Amanda didn't cry or anything, and she could move her arm like there was no problems. She was really surprised to find out it was broken. So now Amanda is in a cast. Probably for the next 4 weeks. Lucky her huh?

The more I think about it.....

I've been kinda thinking things over for the last couple of days. Here I am ripping on the weather men for not getting the weather right. Now I think a person should be able to do his job acurately. So I still think they are a joke. But that being said the more I think about it I can't complain. While we could certainly use more water. the mountains have been getting quite a bit of snow. And I would much rather have our weather like it is than have to deal with the flooding they are having in St. George or California. Not to mention the disaster in Asia. All in all it's not too bad if you think about it.Right now it's cold. it snowed a little last night. and the roads are probably a little slick. But I only have 1 more day of work this week with the next 5 days off. can't complain about that. SMILE! AND MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!

Birthdays

Yesterday was Amandas birthday. She turned 11. It's hard to believe how fast they grow up. So I have been playing the Moto GP game I rented. It is fun. It's hard to get the hang of driving, but once you get it down it's not too hard to play. although it will probably take some time to get really fast. Unfortunately the Moto GP 2 game I rented wouldn't play, and had to go back before I tried it. I've been going to buy it, but haven't wanted to pay $25 to buy it used. Anyway Got to go to work so i'm outta here.

Here we go again

Once again the weather men are wrong about the weather. Go figure. We gat a little bit of snow last night with a lot of wind, and cold temps. Today it is cloudy, but still no snow. In fact everything that has come down is just about gone.

So I guess this is my movie weekend. Rented 2 more movies yesterday. Watched SuperSize Me. What an interesting view on eating out. Puts everything in a whole new perspective. Certainly makes you think twice before you stop at Mickey D's. Also watched Troy. Liked the movie. nothing fabulous, but it was good. In adition to tat my girls have been begging to watch the Lord of the Rings. So we watched the first of those yesterday as well.

So Mark has inspired me to work out a little more regularly. So far so good. I've worked out twice this week. watching that movie added a little more motivation too. Hope to be in decent riding shape by this spring when we start really pulling out the Mountain Bikes. Want to spend a c0nsideable amount of time on the trails and I need to get to the top of Lewis Peak this year.

Anyway time to end this rambling. SMILE! and MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!

surprises

Rachel decided to take the day off today and surprise me so that we could spend some time together today while I am off. That was aweful nice and considerate of her. Would have worked out better if we hadn't both slept in until 11:00. Go figure. Once again the promised snow storm is nowhere to be seen the streets are all dry and the sun is shining. It is cold though. Rachel went and rented a couple movies last night they were kind of an interesting group of movies. Napoleon Dynamite was pretty fun and worth watching if only for the dance scene. Open Water I wouldn't recommend to anybody. Hated the ending. King Arther was a very interesting look at that story and was worth the time to watch at least once. She also rented the MOTOGP games for the PS2 haven't tried them yet, I'll let you know.... Until next time SMILE! and MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Getting Started

So I get an e-mail from Mark with a link to his new blog. looks pretty cool, and kinda fun. He talks me into giving it a try. So what the heck here it is. Really don't know where I'm going with this whole thing. Probably mostly just random ramblings, comments on life and stupidity. Might give me something fun to do with my time off anyway. I probably ought to get off my butt and put my time to good use. maybe clean the house, or go shovel the snow that they said was going to come 2 weeks ago. Oh yeah and it was supposed to snow for the next 3 days straight. Wish I could get paid to just guess about what I need to know. And no one cares if you are wrong. It's absolutely useless to actually use the weather man predictions to plan anything. The only time they ever get it right is in the middle of the summer when it is sunny, and has been for a month. then they usually manage to tell you today is going to be sunny. But only if they have the guts to look outside first. Enough of that. Probably generally the kind of things you will get from my blog. I'm sure things will change, and I will get better as time goes along. but for now this is what you get. Hope you enjoyed this post and I will be back before too long. SMILE! and MAKE IT A GREAT DAy!
